Introduction1.1 A brief introduction to William ShakespeareWilliam Shakespeare (1564-1615) was an English dramatist and poet, generally regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. He wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets in his lifet

His influence on English literature and on the writers of other countries is immense.When he was seven, he went to a grammar school. But at the age of fourteen, he

He used blank verse developed in to a happy vehicle to express all kinds of thought and emotion freely. He writes so many famous works, such as Merchant of

For example, Raymond Ross(1946) studied the train of thought, idea and form of Shakespeares work. He studied William Shakespeares work from his idea and form. But another

    25、 scholar, Helge Kokeritz(1961), studied some details of William Shakespeares work. He studied William Shakespeares pronunciation, offering a thorough study of sixteenth and senventeenth century phonology and concluding that William Shakespeares pronunciation similar to Northern Irish.Otherwise some

For example, John Barton(1984) demonstrates how to adapt Elizabethan theater for the modern stage by explicating William Shakespeares verse and prose, speeches and soliloquies, and naturalistic and heightened language. In fact, the characters in it have be

    34、come emblems of all who die young for their lovers. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet were victims of Cupids arrows. They were truly “star-crossed.” Juliet needed Romeo to get away from her overprotective parents who were planning for future. If Juliet was going to disobey her parents, they would ha

    35、ve disowned her. Ironically, at the party that Lord Capulet held so that Juliet could meet her projected husband, Romeo. They met by chance, looking into each others eyes and instantly being attracted. Their first conversation was sealed with a kiss. Although Romeo and Juliet knew a relationship wou

Having not quite reached her fourteenth birthday; Juliet is of an age that stands on the border between immaturity and maturity. At the plays beginning however she seems merely an obedient, sheltered child. Whe

    43、n Lady Capulet mentions Pariss interest in marrying Juliet, Juliet dutifully responds that she will try to see if she can love him, a response that seems childish in its obedience and in its immature conception of love. Juliet gives glimpses of her determination, strength, and sober-mindedness, in h

    44、er earliest scenes, and offers a preview of the woman she will become during the five-day span of Romeo and Juliet. While Lady Capulet proves unable to quiet the nurse, Juliet succeeds with one word. In addition, even in Juliets obedient acquiescence to try to love Paris, there is some seed of steel

    45、y determination. Juliet promises to consider Paris as a possible husband to the clear degree her mother desires. While an outward show of obedience, such a statement can also be read as a refusal through passivity. Juliet will be agree with her mothers wishes, but she will not go out of her way to f
